Frequently Asked Questions

  • Trincado is a woodworking and design studio located in the countryside near Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. We craft bespoke furniture and singular objects by hand. We also create handmade wooden surfboards.

  • Almost all our furniture is commissioned. We also maintain a small, curated selection of ready pieces and limited editions available for immediate purchase from the studio.

  • We work with sustainably sourced woods, mostly from windblown trees — local hardwoods (holm oak, cork oak, walnut, olive), invasives (acacia, eucalyptus), and occasional rare/exotic slabs. We often mill the trees on-site ourselves and air-dry them for years. For finishing we use a natural tung oil and beeswax mix.

  • Start with an initial inquiry (email or contact form) describing your idea, space, and any references. We’ll arrange a conversation to discuss details and finalize the design. After that, we move to crafting your piece.

  • Bespoke pieces typically have a lead time of 4–8 weeks from order confirmation and deposit, depending on complexity, materials, and the number of projects on our waiting list. Ready pieces can be picked up from our studio or are shipped generally within one week. We will provide a more precise timeline during consultation.

  • All pieces are priced in Euro €. Delivery costs are calculated and quoted separately, and depend on the dimensions of the piece and shipping location.

A 50% deposit is required to confirm the order and start production. The balance is due upon completion, before shipping or pickup. Payments are made via secure bank transfer.

  • Yes, we ship across Europe and to selected international destinations. Delivery costs are quoted separately after order confirmation (based on size, weight, and location) and approved by you before shipping. International buyers handle customs duties, VAT, and import fees.

  • We stand behind our craftsmanship. Pieces come with a limited warranty against material or manufacturing defects for 2 years from delivery. This does not cover normal wear, misuse, or damage from improper care. Please visit our Shipping & Returns page for more information, and contact us with photos for assessment.

  • Our tung oil and beeswax mix creates a protective finish that allows for years of normal, everyday use.

Avoid prolonged, direct sunlight to the piece, extreme humidity, and harsh cleaners. Dust with a soft cloth and wipe spills immediately.

If the wood needs nourishing after a few years, apply a 50% tung oil, 50% beeswax mix, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then buff off the excess and allow to dry.

If an intensive restoration is needed, please reach out for specialized support.

  • We welcome visits by appointment for consultations or to see ongoing work. Due to our small, rural location, please contact us in advance.
